Recruiting

Fall Semester

In order to recruit for Committee, the executive team attends the annual on-campus organization open house, where they hand out a promotional flyer to potential applicants. Additionally, each member of the executive team uses a promotional Facebook profile picture during the recruitment season. Lastly, a promotional email is sent to organizational leaders across campus, so that they may pass on the invitation to apply to their respective organization's members. Committee applications are generally accessible through the online website.

In order to recruit for Staff Assistants, both the executive team and committee members:

  • Hold banners (made of painted bedsheets and two PVC pipes) at heavily trafficked locations across campus
  • Pass out promotional items (flyers, stickers, buttons, cups, etc.)
  • Speak at organizational meetings
  • Speak to their classes
  • Write on classroom white boards
  • Post the link to the application on social media

Recruiting Jobs

Throughout the month and a half preceding The Big Event, the executive team, Committee, and Staff Assistants should:

  • Send out Job Request Forms (JRFs) in the mail
  • Place an ad (which should include a JRF) in the local newspaper
  • Place a downloadable JRF on your Big Event's website
  • Give bundles of JRFs to local schools and churches for distribution
  • Contact local agencies (e.g. hospitals) to learn of individuals in need of a providable service
  • Work with your local city government to develop means of JRF distribution; here's more on city relations
  • Enact a JRF Distribution Day (all Big Event members should pass out JRF directly to homes; contact city leadership for restrictions)
